Teaching Resumes
What makes a great teacher resume?
If you’re an educator, your resume should be a little different to those of other professionals.
Depending on which state you’re in, and which system you teach in (primary/secondary/tertiary and private/public/Catholic), requirements can vary - for your teacher resume and for accompanying documents.
The most important principle to therefore follow when writing a teacher resume and job application is to read thoroughly and carefully through prescribed application requirements.
Some schools will ask you to provide a selection criteria response and cover letter, but not a teacher resume.
Other schools will ask you for a teacher resume and cover letter, but not a selection criteria response.
You may have to submit a response to selection criteria that, for example, demonstrates your understanding of the new Australian Curriculum, or your ability to adapt to the new Australian Government funding model for universities.
If you teach in Victoria, you may be required to respond to generic criteria relating to, for example, the VELS.
