Tony Abbott announces major structural changes to the APS
Tony Abbott has entered into office, and he really wants you to notice.
The many changes announced include major changes to the structure of the Australian Public Service.
A quick summary of major structural changes to government portfolios:
- The Department of Regional, Local Government, Arts and Sports has been scrapped
- Arts has been handed to the Attorney General’s Department
- Sports has been handed to the Health Department
- Resources and Energy have been assumed by the Department of Industry
- AusAID is to be amalgamated with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
- Customs and border control will move from the Attorney General’s Department to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection
